My Personal Research

Professor Dr (oec) Thomas Lange
Ph.D. FRSA FCES SFHEA

About Me
I am an LSE Alumnus and an experienced senior leader in Higher Education. My previous leadership positions included HoD, Associate Dean, Executive Dean, Pro Vice Chancellor, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, and Acting Vice Chancellor in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

A global citizen, I am currently an invited Distinguished Senior Research Fellow, College of Business, Abu Dhabi University, U.A.E.; Affiliate Research Professor at The Centre for Research in Economics of Education, University of Bern, Switzerland; and Professor of Human Resource Management at Coal City University, Enugu, Nigeria.

Abu Dhabi University is my primary affiliation. The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2023 position Abu Dhabi University (ADU) among the Top 125 universities in the world. This reputation ranking puts ADU on par with e.g. Aarhus University (Denmark), Boston University (USA), Free University of Berlin (Germany), Ghent University (Belgium), University of Warwick (UK) and the University of Zurich (Switzerland), among others.

I also serve as Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal Evidence-based HRM (EBHRM), and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Manpower (IJM), both Scopus and WoS indexed and published by Emerald. I am also an Editorial Board member of the British Journal of Management (BJM), Scopus/WoS indexed and published by Wiley.

  • During my time as Executive Dean of Bournemouth University Business School, UK international postgraduate student enrolments grew by 40%. Budget performance: £1m surplus against annual target.
  • Under my Faculty leadership and during my time as PVC/Executive Dean of Faculty (at Glyndŵr University – University of Wales), student recruitment more than doubled from under 1,000 to over 2,000 students; in parallel, student retention rose from under 60% to over 85% and graduate employability increased from 80% to 91%. As a consequence, Business and Education were ranked amongst the top 50 and top 25 disciplinary departments in the UK, respectively (2004 The Guardian rankings). A further achievement at the time was AMBA re- accreditation.
